Pottery Wheel-Throwing Courses for Beginners
Our beginner courses carefully take you through the start of your journey in our well-equipped space in a small group, creating an environment that’s quiet and well set-up for learning. We specialise in wheel-throwing so one of the things we have prioritised is a maximum class size of 3 students for beginners in order to give each person the level of tutor-help that’s needed in the early stages of learning this amazing process. As such our studio is a great place to really work on your skills and understand its joys and complexities with the level of support you need to do this. Click the link below the course you’re interested in to book or see availability. However, if you’re not too sure, please either contact us on studio@jo-davies.com or take a look at booking one of our regular Taster Classes in order to give you an idea of what’s involved.
One Day Intensive Wheel-Throwing for Beginners
Full Day, 3 spaces, East London, adult beginner, £185 per person. 9:30am until 5pm
Saturday 11 January 2025
This one day beginners’ wheel-throwing workshop will guide you through the basics across a full day from a simple cylinder to a bowl to a vase. It's designed to be a fun and intensive way to try out pottery for the first time or continue from a short taster class. As with all our courses, the class size will be small so your learning will be accelerated because we can assist you properly throughout.
All are welcome. Taught by one of Jo's highly experienced tutors.
Course Fee Includes: all tuition, stoneware clay, firings and we will glaze items for you after the day of the course using our white speckled glaze. However, if you would like a choice of coloured glazes, and to do this side of the process yourself, then you can book onto one of our Glaze Classes via the link in your booking-confirmation emails sent after signing-up for our wheel-throwing courses. During this class we will guide you through applying glaze in order to avoid pitfalls and give your work the finishing touch that you hope for.
All tools and equipment are provided at the studio and there are no further fees to pay during any of our courses.
Extra practice after your session? Book our untaught Freewheel Sessions on Sunday mornings or Thursday afternoons for £47 inclusive of clay and firings.
